Sammens resigns as CDA CEO

The CEO of Accra-based Citi FM, Samuel Attah-Mensah, popularly known within media circles as Sammens, has resigned as the CEO of the Coastal Development Authority (CDA).

Sammens took office about six months ago.

Mr Attah-Mensah, according to the Herald newspaper, fell out with his superintending minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who is in charge of Special Development Initiatives.

The paper reported on Wednesday, 26 September that the minister has replaced Mr Attah-Mensah with one Emmanuel Affram Amin, one of Sammens’ four deputies who were appointed by President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Attah-Mensah is allegedly unhappy with the management style of the sector minister. He is also reported to have concerns about the awarding of certain contracts.

The presidency announced Mr Attah-Mensah’s appointment on 13 April 2018, with four deputies: Jerry Ahmed Shaib, Bob-Charles Agbontor, Mona Gertrude Effah and Emmanuel Affram Anim.

The Coastal Development Authority was established alongside the Northern and Middle Belt Development Authorities with a responsibility to implement the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication Programme (IPEP) – the Programme which will ensure the disbursement of the equivalent of $1 million per constituency per year, in fulfillment of President Akufo-Addo’s 2016 campaign pledge.
