Real estate bill soon – Atta Akyea

The Minister of Works and Housing, Samuel Atta Akyea, has given hints that a Real Estate Bill will soon be forwarded to parliament for consideration.

He said the bill has become necessary as part of measures to curb property fraud cases.

Speaking at the launch of the Ghana Association of Real Estate Brokers in Accra, Mr Atta Akyea said: “We have a serious issue regulating real estate brokerage, I mean like people will not be hanging around in wrong places trying to deceive people. We believe that is a vehicle to bring all real estate brokers together, and what is very critical is: they will be rewarded for the job they do.

“There is a whole mapping out of revenue returns to the economy, which the government is very interested in, so, very soon, we will pass it into law and then Ghana will be better off”.

He continued: “The bill has exited Cabinet, so, the Attorney General is now putting together what we call the bill, and then the bill is laid in parliament and then it goes through the process of making it into law”.
