Pres Akufo-Addo charges ‘Presidential Pitch Winners’ to be global competitors

President Akufo Addo has charged all ten winners of the first ever ‘Presidential Pitch’ competition which was held on June 25, 2018 in Accra, to make the building of enterprises that will have a global focus and competitiveness, their ultimate ambition as they receive their prices to begin next phase of the development of their business ideas which they pitched during the competition.

Speaking at the courtesy call paid on him at the Jubilee House by the 10 winners of the Presidential Pitch and to also receive their prices, President Akufo-Addo said, he was delighted and fascinated to have participated in the Presidential Pitch Competition.

The President said that the ideas he saw being exhibited during the competition sent a clear signal to him that if those ideas are properly developed and supported, they will potentially turn the fortunes of enterprises and make them a major tool in the development of Ghana.

“If our young people don’t have the capacity to think, create, innovate, it is going to be very difficult for us in the years ahead of us”, the President said.

The President congratulated the winners and pledged that his government will offer the ten (10) winners, every engagement they need to ensure that their businesses become a success

Presidential Pitch for Start-ups

The Presidential Pitch seeks to unearth young entrepreneurs across the ten regions of the country to showcase their innovative business ideas to the President to get financial assistance to implement such ideas.

The project is in line with the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s vision of assisting young entrepreneurs to incubate their business ideas and improve livelihoods.


A total of ten young Ghanaians participated in the final contest with projects ranging from technology, agriculture, construction, energy and agro-processing.

The contestants comprising young entrepreneurs drawn from all ten regions included Nana Newman, agriculture project; Aicon Andoh, technology; Joelle Eyeson, construction; Kwasi Adai Munumkum Okyere, agri-business; Emi-Beth Quatson, agri-business.

The rest are Abdulsalam Mohammed, health/technology; Ahmed Tijani Toyibu, health; Zeenatu Suglo Adams, agro-processing; Vanessa Aisha Limann, agro-processing and Richmond Zissu Nutsuglo, energy.


All ten contestants received various cash amounts and recognitions for their efforts. The 10th contestant in the ranking, Kwasi Adai Mununkum Okyere received Ghc 30,000.00.

The 9th, Aicon Andah received Ghc 30,000.00. The 8th, Zeenatu Soglo Adams; 7th, Nana Newman; 6th, Emi Berg Quatson; 5th, Joel Eyeson and 4th, Richmond Nutsuglo also received GHS 30,000.00 each.

The 3rd contestant, Ahmed Tijani received a cash prize of GHS 40,000.00.

The first runner up, Abdusalam Mohammed, received GHS 45,000.00.

The overall best,19-year old Vanessa Aisha Limann, received GHS 50,000gh and an additional GHS 25,000.00 personal donation from the President.
