Woman arrested for peddling falsehood about 2 pastors

A 35-year-old woman, Gifty Adobea, is in the grips of the Awutu Breku district police command for allegedly fabricating sexual assault cases against pastors, elders and some prominent persons in Kasoa and its environs.

Her act, according to Adom News’ Kofi Adjei has led to the sacking of pastor Daniel Mireku at the church of Pentecost Opeikuma district at Kasoa since last Sunday.

Another elder at the church of Pentecost, Fetteh Kakraba Assembly, elder Paul Mensah, was also sacked by his church last month after they were all accused of having an amorous affair with Gifty.

According to the Awutu Breku district police commander, ASP Johnson Hessey, an elder of Church of Pentecost Fetteh Kakraba Assembly, some months ago, reported the woman to them for fabricating stories they (pastors) deemed malicious against them.

According to the police commander, after listening to the pastors, they were forced to cause the arrest of the woman for further investigations.

He said during interrogation, the police identified that the woman had subjected several pastors in Kasoa to such accusations and later extorted money from them.

But elder Paul, who is one of the victims, speaking to Adom News, denied all allegations levelled against him and the pastor.

“In 2016, this woman came to my house seeking for financial assistance but I failed to help her and directed her to one of the elders but she never returned and I never heard anything about her”, he said.

“After a month, Madam Gifty took my number and went to lodge a complaint against me and another district pastor that we forcibly had sex with her, an allegation that was a lie”, he added.

He said the matter was later sent to the court but the woman failed to appear before the court, leading to her arrest.

Meanwhile, elder Paul and the district pastor have been asked to hand over all church properties in their possession to the church.
