#12: Daara sues Anas for GHS20m
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has sued investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI team, for defamation.
Among the reliefs being sought by Mr Daara is GHS20 million in damages, as he stated that he is innocent of the bribery allegations leveled against him in the Number 12 documentary of Anas.
Counsel for Mr Daara, Dr Dominic Ayine, explained on Friday, 6 July 2018 that his client is innocent of the allegation that he “took a bribe to fix someone in the Black Stars”.
Dr Ayine said Mr Daara “never requested, never accepted a bribe” as exhibited in the video.
The respondent is yet to comment on the suit.
According to the investigators, Mr Daara influenced the selection of one Thomas Abbey.
In the Number 12 documentary, the FA spokesperson refused to touch the bribe offered him but allegedly asked a colleague to take it on his behalf.
